As one of Sydney’s OG hand-poke artists, Nah Mate approaches tattooing from a different perspective.
Through a hand-poked process, he creates his distinctive ignorant aesthetic dot by dot. After taking the scenic route to tattooing via every job under the sun and home tattooing everyone and anyone, including himself, Nah Mate now works out of A Studio in sydney city.
His work ranges from crude hand-drawn childlike pieces to perfect, delicate, clean line work. The subject matter of his drawings can veer from familiar childhood characters who’ve taken a bizarre and dark turn to simple pieces that are cute, silly and always recognisably Nah Mate.
He’s been a returning featured tattooer at The Other Art Fair, interviewed by Vertigo UTS and recommended by the smart and stylish duo behind the Highly Enthused podcast.
